Nissanka Goonetileke

At primary school, I was the kid in high demand for drawings and titles pages on class projects. I didn’t know what it meant to design, or be a designer, but that’s all I wanted to do. A lust for crayons and felt tip pens was replaced by set squares, graphite pencils, and a refined eye for detail. I further developed my design skills and understanding at Unitec Auckland, completing a bachelor of design in 2006.

I am a multi-discipline sports designer having worked in a variety of mediums including apparel, events, print and digital media. I pride myself on being a solution based designer with a commercial understanding that can take an idea from the boardroom to store. 

I have found my best ideas don’t form and develop at a desk in front of a screen. I commence work using the pad and the pen, progressing to a digital form. For me this ensures what is being designed is as effective and original as the client it represents.
